People in Halloween costumes, including a skeleton and witches, stand before a spooky house with glowing jack-o'-lanterns and lights.

Step into The Haunted House - a board game for your classroom! This spooky activity for English learners combines fun storytelling with educational questions. Prepare your dice, follow the arrows, and see if you can escape The Haunted House!

📄A2-B1 ⏱️50 min

 How to Play:

  1. Each team starts at the “Start” space on the main board.

  2. Teams take turns rolling the dice and moving forward the correct number of spaces.

  3. When they land on a space with a creature or object, they click or follow the arrow on the board.

  4. Students read or listen to the question and discuss their answer in groups.

  5. The teacher then reveals the answer page.

  6. If students answer correctly, they move one extra step forward.

If not, they stay in place (or follow the fun “punishment” described on the card).

  7. Continue until someone reaches the “Finish” and escapes from The Haunted House!

Tips for Teachers:

  • Use spooky background music or dim the lights for atmosphere.

  • Give small rewards (stickers, sweets, or points) for creativity or bravery.

  • Allow students to create new “Haunted House” questions for their classmates as a follow-up task.
